Hiking in the rainforest above Honolulu

 

It's only about half an hour on the bus to the rainforest up in the hills above Honolulu.
You get a great view along with welcome respite from the heat.

The rainforest is so lush and green.

You can get lost amongst the bamboo though!

There are some terrific walks
but don't expect the waterfalls to be full if there's been no rain for most of the summer!

Another great escape from Waikiki and Honolulu is the
Polynesian Cultural Centre where you can learn all about Polynesia.
